The 2015 Chinese Language Teachers Study Tour

The 2015 Chinese Language Teachers Study Tour

From 29 March to 8 April 2015, ten Chinese language teachers from Australia embarked on a study tour to Chongqing, China. The mix of primary and secondary school teachers were hosted by the Confucius Institute at La Trobe University’s China partner, Chongqing University, on this professional development and cultural immersion tour.

The tour provided participants the opportunity to interact with China-based peers from both the host university and an international school in Chongqing, share resources, observe classes and extend language skills while exploring the gateway city to China’s west. They immersed themselves in local Bayu culture, and visited key cultural sites of the area such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dazu Rock Carvings.

Participants highlighted the opportunity to interact with a broad representative group of teachers as well as the visits to the international school as key take away experiences of the tour.

Participant Feedback

“I am just back from the trip and I wanted to contact you to let you know how well it all went. The staff at Chongqing were very accommodating and the classes were very useful. I will certainly recommend it to other teachers should you arrange a similar trip in the future.”
